ESSAY: POLICY ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

OVERVIEW
At the core of many health care systems is policy and politics. Unfortunately, the health and well-being of many citizens are left for debate in the political complexities that shape many governmental and non-governmental organizations. It is important that we objectively identify and discuss the challenges that surround the health care system. In this assignment you will have the opportunity to select and analyze one health care policy. In this objective analysis, you should examine both sides of the argument.

INSTRUCTIONS
Select one current policy, either US or from your country of interest. Provide a brief policy analysis using the required content outline. Your peer reviewed literature review should reflect an unbiased perspective. Biased perspectives may cause a reduction in your score.

Content Outline

1. Introductory Paragraph
2. Using a specific policy, name and briefly explain the policy, discuss how Health Policy affects the delivery of healthcare? Who is affected by the policy?
3. Discuss the political and economic driver the policy (this is not a discussion on the political and economic effects). Be objective, explain both sides of the issue (this is not an opportunity to disparage political ideas or side with political ideology. As doctoral students a comprehensive perspective is critical).
4. Using evidence based research and objective evidence, provide an analysis on the effectiveness (or not) of the policy. In what areas is the policy working as intended? In positive areas, provide evidence. In ineffective areas, provide evidence and suggest areas of improvement.
5. Biblical Perspective in response to the problem.
6. Conclusion – Summarize the paper in 5-8 sentences.

Assignment Instructions

Please write a 3-page paper fully addressing the prompt and content outline. Your written communication should reflect a thorough understanding of the topic and scholarly expertise appropriate for upper-division collegial work and include critical analysis, application of information, correct use of terms, and grammar/spelling. Please include these elements:

1. APA style formatting is required, including but not limited to the title page, abstract, headings, etc. See LUO resources for formatting and citation style required for all doctoral students.
2. Objective data, evidence must be used to address the issue. Generalized statements are not acceptable.
3. A minimum of 8-10 peer reviewed references, published in the last five years, are required. (Wikis, blogs, internet website sources should not be used as these are not considered academic references). If you choose a relevant, older policy, the articles may be older, however, reference should reflect mostly current publication dates.
4. Biblical worldview with support with scripture references. Cite the scripture and apply the scripture references to the prompt.
5. Essay should be 3-5 pages, not including title and reference pages.
