Culture of Conformity

Was the culture of conformity effective in repelling communism?

Using what you have learned from the lectures, write a 1000-word essay on the culture of conformity—along with its various effects on society (ie. cult of domesticity, segregation, McCarthyism)—and whether it was effective in its goal of repelling communism via impressing American values and culture. Did emphasizing/forcing American values on citizens have the desired effect? What were some of the cultural of conformity’s upsides or downsides (if any)? What was the American reaction to this policy?
