[Story X] by [author] helps us to understand [theme/issue Y] by promoting empathy through [warrant 1], [warrant 2], and [warrant 3]
- You can use this boilerplate (you can follow it exactly or tweak the diction as long as the objective is still clear). You might discover that one sentence is too long so recall that thesis statements can also be up to three sentences if needed. Please follow these steps:

- Then,
- Paraphrase your claim/thesis and three warrants. You do not need to place them into a graphic, but please label and list each one.
- Claim =
- Warrant 1 =
- Warrant 2 =
- Warrant 3 =
- So, there are two parts to this assignment: 1) your full proposed thesis and 2) paraphrased claim and a listing of warrants.
